Mayabunder, April 7: A patrolling team of AFEVS conducted routine patrolling yesterday in the Reserve Forest area at Kala Pather, leading to detection and seizure of sawn timber measuring 0.494 cbm of superior hardwood.
The timber was found abandoned within the reserve forest area, and no offender could be traced at the time of seizure. The seized material has been secured, and necessary legal formalities have been initiated in accordance with the relevant forest laws and regulations.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the timber may have been concealed for subsequent transportation. Intensive search operations were carried out in the surrounding area; however, no offender could be apprehended. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the origin of the timber and identify those responsible.
