Hutbay, Feb. 17: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, conducted a door-to-door Veterinary Health Camp at Harminder Bay today, providing essential medicines and health care services directly to the tribal community for their livestock and poultry birds. The 1st Captain and Secretary of the Tribal Council personally collected medicines for their animals and birds, reflecting strong community participation and support.
The camp followed a two-day training programme where participants were imparted knowledge on the importance of Integrated Farming System in Animal Husbandry Practices, including profitable integration of duck rearing in fish ponds, cattle rearing for crop manuring, vermicomposting, and other sustainable techniques.
During the camp, a total of 10 members of the tribal community, including the Captain, registered their names for piglets. The Department is fortunate to have 14 piglets currently in stock, which will be issued to the registered beneficiaries during the Mass Distribution Day on 27 February 2026.
