AH&VS Conducts Training to Spread Awareness on Growing Market Demand for Goat Milk at Caddle Gunj

Caddle Gunj, Feb. 25: The Department of AH&VS conducted a one-day training programme on Feb. 21, at the campus of Disha Foundation, Caddle Gunj, Ferrargunj, aimed at creating awareness about the growing market demand for goat milk and its value-added products. The event was graced by the Senior Veterinary Officer (AHTI), Senior Veterinary Officer (Animal Health), and Senior Veterinary Officer, Veterinary Dispensary, Port Mout, who provided expert insights and interacted with the participants.

SVO, AHTI, delivered an insightful lecture on the marketing prospects of goat milk, emphasizing how village women can become self-reliant entrepreneurs by adopting scientific goat farming practices and tapping into the rising demand for goat milk. SVO, AH, explained the supply chain of goat milk, detailing the journey from the farmer’s field to processing units and markets, underscoring the importance of quality control and efficient transportation to maximise returns. SVO, VD, Port Mout, highlighted the role of Artificial Insemination in goats for genetic upgradation and improvement of local breeds, enabling farmers to produce higher-yielding animals suited to island conditions.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Michael Raj, Officer in charge of Disha Foundation.
