Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 22: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, under the Partnering for Animal Welfare and Sterilization (PAWS) initiative, will be undertaking a Mass Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme to promote animal welfare, public safety, and responsible pet ownership during the month of January 2026.
Pet owners are earnestly requested to extend their cooperation to get their pets dogs sterilized under Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme. The owners are also advised to get their pets vaccinated at the prescribed time. Timely vaccination is essential for preventing zoonotic diseases and ensuring the overall health of pets as well as the community.
Responsible pet owners are those who:
•Ensure that their pets receive vaccinations at the right age and at regular intervals
•Keep pets collared and properly identified
•Keep pets within their premises and not allowing them to roam freely
•Prevent uncontrolled breeding through timely sterilization
Pet Owners may approach their nearest Government Veterinary Hospital / Dispensary / Mobile Veterinary Unit for more information on ABC and vaccination and for guidance on responsible pet care.
