AMSO Felicitates Three Young Achievers of Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 12: The Andaman Moplah Service Organisation (AMSO) on 11/04/2026 organised a grand felicitation programme at TGCE Auditorium, Middle Point, Port Blair to honour three sons of the Islands who have brought laurels to Andaman & Nicobar through their exceptional achievements in the fields of Civil Services and Defence.

Shri Mohd Rafi, Vice President, AMSO welcomed the gathering and highlighted the purpose of the programme to inspire the youth of the Islands by showcasing real-life role models from within the Islands.

The function was organised to honour and celebrate the culmination of their journeys into phenomenal achievements:

Shri Shiyad – for securing All India Rank 743 in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. A proud alumnus of Crescent Public School, Wimberlygunj and MES School, Azad Nagar, South Andaman, Shiyad’s success has become a beacon of hope for hundreds of civil service aspirants across the Islands. His journey from Port Blair to the national merit list proves that dedication and perseverance can overcome geographical barriers.

Lt. Avinash Kumar Pandey & Lt. Ashwin Philip Suresh – for their proud commissioning as Lieutenants in the Indian Army. Their entry into the Armed Forces as officers stands as a testimony to the courage, discipline and patriotism of Island youth.

Er. Prijit Rekh, Chief Engineer, APWD graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “These young men have not only achieved personal milestones but have opened doors for the next generation. Their success tells every youth in Andaman that no dream is too distant.”

Shri Abdul Aziz, ACF, Department of Environment and Forest was the Guest of Honour. In his address, he appreciated the efforts of AMSO for organising such an event and congratulated all three achievers for their success. He also stressed that with discipline and perseverance, no challenge is too great to overcome in the journey towards one’s goal.

Shri Rakesh Pal Gobind, President, LBA, as the Special Guest, stressed on the issue of drug abuse and the involvement of youngsters in this menace. He urged parents to keep a close watch on their children and emphasised allowing students to choose their own field for their future.

President, AMSO, in his address, stated that the organisation considered it incumbent upon itself to publicly honour these achievers. “As sons of Andaman, Shiyad, Avinash and Ashwin carry the hopes of the entire Islands. AMSO is proud of them and wishes them great success in the service of the nation.”

Shri Shiyad also addressed the gathering and delivered a highly motivating speech to students and parents. He shared his preparation journey, emphasised the importance of consistency, and urged parents to support their children’s aspirations. This was followed by an interactive session where Shiyad answered queries from students and aspirants, making the event deeply inspiring for the youth present.

The parents and relatives of Lt. Avinash and Lt. Ashwin also spoke on the occasion. Both parents in their address thanked AMSO for felicitating their children.

The programme was also addressed by Smti. Sajida Zubair, Counselling Mentor, Future Hospital, Kanyapuram and Smti. A.P. Thayyiba, cousin of Shri Shiyad.

During the programme, Crescent Public School and MES School were also felicitated as Shiyad is an alumnus of both institutions.

The three achievers were felicitated with mementoes by the Chief Guest and the Guests. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from students, parents, teachers, community leaders, and members of various social organisations.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri M.P. Abdul Rasheed, Organising Secretary, AMSO. Shri Abdul Siddique, General Secretary, also acknowledged the support of all stakeholders in making the programme a success.

The programme was well coordinated by Miss Shareen Shahid, B.Ed 1st Year student of Tagore Govt. College.
