A&N Administration Launches a Set of High-End Tourism Projects, Investors Visit Planned in September

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 14: With over 800 untouched Islands and islets, abundant coral reefs, lush tropical forests, and secluded white-sand beaches, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands offer a one-of-a-kind eco-tourism experience. In an initiative to unlock the untapped tourism potential of India’s most enchanting Island destinations, the A&N Administration has launched a set of transformative high-end responsible tourism projects. These will span across four spectacular Islands—Shaheed Dweep, Long Island, Smith Island and Aves Island—along with the redevelopment of the iconic Megapode Resort, located in the heart of Sri Vijaya Puram city. The projects will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

These initiatives align with the Government of India’s visionary framework for Holistic Development of Islands (HDI) and aim to position the A&N Islands as a premier global destination for sustainable, nature-led tourism.

The RFP for development of eco-tourism resorts in Shaheed Dweep, Long Island, Smith Island & Aves Island and re-development of Megapode Resort was issued on 28th July. A pre-bid conference was held on 14th August, which was attended by over one hundred participants representing about sixty potential investors representing major hospitality operators and developers.

The pre-bid conference was organised to explain the project contours and PPP structuring of the proposed projects, thereby also providing a platform to potential investors to share their suggestions and seek clarifications, if any.

The discussions covered the entire project life cycle for all the proposed developments. The suggestions and queries raised by the participants were suitably clarified. Additionally, site visits are planned during first week of September for the investors.
