DG Police Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal Personally Following the Case with Tamil Nadu Police

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 5: A missing report of Shri Niamat Ali (49 years), a resident of Shadipur, Sri Vijayapuram, who had travelled to Chennai on 27th July 2025 for business purposes, was reported by his family at PS Aberdeen which was registered forthwith and taken up for enquiry.
Considering the gravity of the case, a special police team led by SI G. Mohan Rao and PC/614 Jairaj of PS Aberdeen was immediately deputed to Chennai to trace the missing person.
During initial investigation, the team coordinated with S2 Police Station, Chennai Airport and gathered vital evidences including CCTV footages, mobile call records, and witness statements. The analysis of CCTV footage in Chennai accessed by the team confirmed that Sh. Niamat Ali had travelled from Chennai Airport to Vandalur, where he was last seen with a young man later identified as Mohammed Ayaan R/o Andaman & Nicobar Islands – a college student pursuing studies at Chennai.
Based on technical, circumstantial evidence and witness statements, the team identified main suspects who were from Andaman & Nicobar Islands who could have information about the status of the missing persons.
Further, the enquiry at Chennai revealed that the missing person had landed in Chennai, taken public and private transport over there and had met certain people. Acting on the leads provided by the team of PS Aberdeen, Chennai Police registered an FIR No. 36/2025 of missing person dated 10/08/2025 at S2 Police Station, Chennai Airport for further investigation and later the same was transferred to PS Khilambatham, Tambaram District. All the material collected by PS Aberdeen team was handed over to Tamil Nadu Police and the local police have solved the case as a murder and is further investigating the case.
The family of Niamat Ali had approached Sh. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Pursuant to her representation, the DGP personally coordinated with the Chennai Police and ensured that all necessary and appropriate actions were promptly initiated. He personally followed up the case meticulously with Tamil Nadu Police and ensure all the support possible to the victim family.
The investigation is ongoing and the Andaman & Nicobar Police is committed to ensuring justice for the victim and his family and continues close coordination with Tamil Nadu Police for any support to the family, and the Tamil Nadu Police for any investigative support.
