Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 12: RED RIBBON STATE LEVEL QUIZ COMPETITION for the School students was organized by Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) under the direction of National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), MoHFW, GoI. on 11th September 2025. A total of 24 students from 12 Schools from all over Andaman & Nicobar Islands participated in the quiz competition. These students were selected through various rounds at school and zonal level. Students were from Secondary and Sr. Sec Schools of class 8th, 9th and 11th standard.
Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS in his special note welcomed all the participants and appreciated their active involvement. He encouraged the students to carry forward the message of awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS, and highlighted the importance of youth participation in building a healthier and informed society.
Ms. Y. Devi and Ms. Lakshita from PM SHRI Model Sr. Sec. School, Mayabunder, won 1st position, Ms. Rehnuma Mondal and Ms. Ananya Emman from Carmel Sr. Sec. School won 2nd position while Mr. Shaurya Goenka and Mr. Ritman Maneel from Navy Children School won 3rd position. The competition had four rounds and the level of difficulty increased with each round.
The first winning team (two participants) will participate in the Regional Level Quiz competition to be held in Mumbai on 22nd September 2025 organized by NACO, MoHFW, GoI where the state level winners from 6 to 7 states will be participating.
The topics of the questions were on General Health and Wellness, Adolescent Health including menstrual hygiene, Healthy diet and Nutrition, HIV, AIDS, STIs and Reproductive Health, Voluntary Blood Donation, Govt. Health Programs, HIV & AIDS (P &C) Act, 2017 and AIDS helpline no.-1097
