ANACS Conducts Refresher Training and Review Meeting of Facility Level Staff

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 1: Four days Refresher Training and review meeting of Facility Level Staff organized by A&N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) from 28th to 31st July, 2025 in the conference hall of Ayush Hospital, Junglighat, Sri Vijaya Puram.  Participants were Counsellors and Lab. Technicians from 13 ICTCs of A&N AIDS Control Society, and also from Jan Lok Kalyan Parishad (NGO). Around 45 participants were benefitted from this training programme.

Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services/ Vice Chairperson ANACS, A & N Administration graced the inaugural function as Chief Guest. Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, Deputy Director (AYUSH) and Dr. Ajit Kumar, Deputy Director (Malaria) were present as Special Guest.

Dr. Suja Antony highlighted the global impact of HIV/AIDS and stated that over the years, significant efforts have been made in the areas of awareness, counselling, testing, and treatment. However, she emphasized that it is crucial to stay updated with the evolving developments in the field. She also mentioned that the training programme will not only refresh the knowledge of the participants but will also give an opportunity to meet, interact, and find solutions for the challenges faced in their respective area of work.

Dr. Jahanara Yasmeen, Deputy Director (MS & IEC) in his key note address, briefed on the objective of the training and highlighted that the training programme focused on NACP-V objectives.

The participants were earlier welcomed by Shri. Vivekanand Singh, Deputy Director, Basic Service Division.   

The training session included objective of NACP-V; Introduction to the National HIV/AIDS Programme and National AIDS Control Organization; Elimination of Vertical Transmission of HIV and Syphilis, Drivers of the HIV epidemic; The Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency (Prevention and Control) Act 2017;Basic Counselling Skills: Post Exposure Prophylaxis, Universal Work Precautions and Pre- Exposure Prophylaxis; Screening and Management of Sexually Transmitted Infection and Reproductive tract Infections; Introduction of New “HIV Alert” on SOCH Portal; Virology and Pathogeneses of HIV Infection: Family planning methods for PLHIV; Community Strengthening Services; Laboratory diagnosis of HIV Infection; Overview of Laboratory Quality Management System; Quality System Essentials- Organization, Personnel and Customer Services; Equipment Management; Facility and Safety, External Quality Assessment; Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Certification of Excellence of Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres; Occurrence Management; Inventory Management and Information Management.

The resource persons included Dr. Shahina Mustaquim, Deputy Director (Blood Safety), Dr. Nisha S Parveen, Chest & TB Specialist  from GB Pant Hospital, Dr. Ishita, JR, ANIIMS, Dr. Jahanara Yasmeen, Deputy Director (MS & IEC), Dr. P.K. Sikdar, AD (LSD), Shri Girish Kumar, AD (CSS), Shri Senthil Nathan, AD (CST), Shri Ganesh Debnath, AD (SI) and Ms. Lakshya, Technical Officer from ANACS.

The four days training and review meeting of facility level staff was concluded by distribution of certificates to the participants followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Dr. P.K. Sikdar, AD (LSD) from ANACS.
