Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 30: The State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, A & N Islands Shri. Anil Kumar Tiwari on behalf of all party workers, has lauded the decision of Election Commission of India to launch the second phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in twelve states of Indian union including A & N Islands from 04th of November 2025 lasting for one month.
This exercise will certainly help in cleansing the Electoral Rolls by way of identifying and removing the names of people who have either shifted to other states or are dead. Also this initiative will help in deletion of illegal people residing in these Islands. Referring to ECI and Supreme Court’s assurances, he added that no legal resident will be left out during SIR enumeration.
The Election Commission of India has been conducting SIR’s in suitable time periods since our independence in 1947. Altogether the Election Commission of India has conducted eight SIR’s till now. The last SIR was conducted about twenty one years ago ending 2004. Hence this exercise is not being done for the first time. The people need not worry or fall prey to the mischievous propaganda of dubious forces who want to confuse and destabilize the country, Shri. Tiwari further added.
