
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 28: The A & N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association (ANIPPDA) has completed 13 years of dedicated service, unity & advocacy for the private health care community in Andaman Islands. Over the years it has stood as a pillar of strength empowering doctors promoting ethical practices and enhancing health care standards.
ANIPPDA strengthened private medical, homeopathic, dental practice promoted ethical health care delivery fostered unity among health care professionals, conducted numerous medical & dental camps across remote & underserved areas bringing quality care to the door step of those in need. These efforts reflect our core mission, service, solidarity & excellence in health care.
General health check-up in rural areas blood pressure, diabetes, eye check-up screening, cataract operation with Opthalmologist in collaboration with Rotary Club of Port Blair, Humane Touch, Green Islands Foundation, forest department, transport department, local panchayats, Directorate of Health Services etc.
Distribution of free medicines by ANIPPDA, awareness hygiene nutrition & life style diseases & prevention of oral hygiene maintenance, multi-speciality medical & dental camps were held along with Specialists consultation like Paediatrician, Gynaecologists, Neuro Psychiatrist, Laparoscopic Surgeon, Dental Surgeon, General physicians, Physiotherapist, Periodontist & Implantologist, ENT specialist, Pathologist etc.
Oral health check-up for children & adults, dental hygiene education session in schools, free tooth extraction & minor treatments at the camp site awareness campaigns on tobacco cessation & oral cancer at camp sites. Many Islanders were benefitted from free health care, early diagnosis & prevention of serious diseases, strengthened community trust in private practioners built a bridge between healthcare professionals & the public.
Basic Life Support hands-on. How to handle emergencies for the students of ANIIMS and private practioners, Drug de- addiction & internet addiction, Breast feeding week, Cardiac camp & free check-up during world diabetic day, free pap smear camp for early detection of cervical cancer by Astha Clinic, Multi-disciplinary camp at PHC Ferrargunj, PHC Manglutan, CHC Havelock in coordination with Director of Health Services.
Breast cancer awareness camp at Pillar Hospital by Ritika’s Diagnostic Hospital, Audiometry camp (first time in the islands) by Chirayu Children Hospital, participated in ITF Health Mela, training on fire safety for ANIPPDA members & staff of hospitals/Clinics at fire brigade department. CME programme for private doctors on medical examination in sexual offence & legal challenges & POSCO and its importance for doctors was conducted.
During lockdown COVID -19 private hospitals & Clinics rendered services as front-line workers and also did tele consultation services. Dr Rohindra Lal President of A & N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association said that private hospitals and clinics lessened the burden on government hospital relatively.
