
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 24: The Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) conducted a series of awareness programs at Govt. Senior Secondary School, Subashgram, Diglipur on Nov. 23 as part of the observance of National Pollution Control Day 2025. This day is commemorated every year in memory of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984, one of the world’s worst industrial disasters, to raise awareness about pollution control, industrial safety, and environmental protection.
As part of the program, the Department of S&T organized a painting competition for secondary class students. Many students participated enthusiastically in the presence of Shri P. Senthil Kumar, Artist, Department of Science & Technology.
The winners of the competition are Debika Halder (Class VIII), PM Shri GSSS, Subashgram, Diglipur – 1st Prize (Rs. 2,500/-), Diya Bairagi (Class VIII), PM Shri GSSS, Subashgram, Diglipur – 2nd Prize (Rs. 2,000/-) and Rohit Das (Class IX) (GSSS Diglipur) – 3rd Prize (Rs. 1,000/-).
Following the competition, an awareness PPT presentation was delivered by Shri V. Satyanarayana, Librarian, DST, for the school students. An awareness film was also shown.
The Deputy Education Officer of Diglipur Zone, Smti. Sulochana and Principal of the School, Smti. Kakoly Dey distributed Certificates to the winner students of Painting competition. They also encouraged the students for their future endeavours.
