ANPCC Conducts Series of Awareness Programmes at PM Shri Govt. Model SSS Mayabunder

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 27: The Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), organized a series of awareness programmes at PM Shri Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Mayabunder, North Andaman on Nov. 24, as part of the observance of National Pollution Control Day 2025. The day is commemorated every year in memory of the victims of the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy, highlighting the importance of environmental safety and pollution prevention.

As part of the event, an awareness PPT presentation was delivered by Shri V.Satyanarayana, Librarian, DST. The interactive session witnessed active participation from students, covering key topics including air pollution, water pollution, and various environmental issues affecting the islands and the nation.

To reinforce the message of environmental protection, a short film “Mitha Jahar” was screened for students. In the concluding part of the programme, Artist Shri P. Senthil Kumar and Librarian distributed cotton bags carrying the messages “Swachhta Hi Seva” and “Swachh Rashtra Banana Hai” to students and teachers. The gesture aimed to encourage the school community to avoid single-use polythene bags and adopt eco-friendly practices.
