
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 28: Under the aegis of Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, the Union Territory Level Bankers Committee (UTLBC) A&N Islands successfully organized a Mega Restitution Camp on 28.11.2025 at Conference Hall, SBI RSETI, 2nd Floor, SBI Complex from 3.00 PM to help citizens to trace and reclaim their long pending financial assets. This camp is a part of three months awareness cum disbursement campaign launched by Department of Financial Services (DFS) in coordination with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and financial sector regulators like IRDAI and SEBI.
The purpose of this camp is to facilitate the settlement of unclaimed bank deposits, dormant insurance amounts, inactive mutual funds and dividend proceeds, unclaimed shares and other unclaimed or inactive financial assets held across various financial institutions. The nationwide campaign aims to ensure that every rupee saved by citizens can be rightfully claimed by them or by their legal heirs and nominees. The initiative aims to expedite the settlement of unclaimed deposits and enhance public awareness on reclaiming dormant financial assets.
The camp was attended by Mr Santosh Sahu, Regional Manager, SBI, Shri C Raj, Director RSETI, Shri P K Ummer Farooq, Chief Manager, UTLBC, Shri Vivek Bharati, Reserve Bank of India, Shri Sonu Kumar Mondal, LIC India and Shri Uma Shankar, Chola General Insurance.
As part of the nationwide campaign “Apki Poonji Apka Adhikar” claim certificate was distributed to 35 claimants. During the camp it was informed that as on 31.08.2025 in Andaman & Nicobar Islands 74487 accounts amounting to Rs. 44.69 Cr are lying unclaimed in Depositors Education and Awareness Fund (DEA Fund) and 483 Accounts amounting to Rs. 4.78 Cr were settled during the campaign period.
The Mega Camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from the citizens, beneficiaries & stakeholders reflecting rising public awareness and strong trust in financial inclusion initiatives.
This initiative marks a significant step toward ensuring that every citizen receives their rightful financial dues—truly reinforcing the spirit of “Apki Poonji Apka Adhikar.”
