Long Island, Feb. 11: An awareness-cum-screening programme on Tuberculosis was conducted today at the Gram Panchayat Hall among PRI members and the general public. A health talk on the signs and symptoms of TB, Nikshay Poshan Yojana, and Nikshay Mitra was organized. Dr. Alice Bwa, MO–DTC elaborated on tuberculosis, emphasizing its causes, prevention, treatment, and the importance of early diagnosis and adherence to treatment. A total of 35 participants attended the programme.
Earlier, Medical Officer, DTC visited PHC Long Island along with the NTEP team for monitoring and supervision of NTEP activities. During the visit, she discussed various issues related to TB control and programme implementation with Dr. Nelsmart, Medical Officer In-Charge, PHC Long Island. The visiting team comprised Shri Madhava Rao, District Programme Coordinator, Shri Dulal Mondal, District PMDT Coordinator; Smt. Meenakshi Paul, Sr. Treatment Supervisor and Smt. Sushma Das, AANM.
