Awareness Programme-cum-Rangoli Competition Organised at Dr. RP Hospital as Part of World TB Day

Mayabunder, March 19: An Awareness Programme-cum-Rangoli Competition was organized today by the District TB Centre, Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder, under the aegis of the District Health Society, N&M Andaman, in connection with the observance of World TB Day 2026. The programme was conducted under the theme ‘Yes! We Can End TB – led by Bharat, powered by Jan Bhagidari’, emphasizing collective efforts and community participation in the fight against Tuberculosis.

Inaugurating the programme as the chief guest, Shri S. Krishna Chaitanya, Additional District Magistrate, N&MA highlighted the importance of early detection, adherence to complete treatment, and active community involvement in achieving the goal of TB elimination. He stressed that public awareness and Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) are crucial in ensuring a TB-free society. He also interacted with the students, engaging them in a brief discussion on TB and its prevention. Smt. Archana Devi, Pradhan, GP Pokkadera also attended the programme.

The Rangoli Competition which witnessed enthusiastic and creative participation from students and the general public depicted TB awareness messages, prevention strategies, and the importance of timely treatment through their artwork, making the event both informative and engaging.

Dr. Christina Rossity, District TB Officer, N&MA, informed that the winners of the Rangoli Competition will be felicitated and awarded during the World TB Day celebration on 24th March 2026. The programme concluded on a positive and inspiring note with the slogan ‘TB Harega, Desh Jeetega’.
