Sri Vijaya Puram, June 1: An awareness programme on Drug Abuse and Prevention was successfully conducted at Bambooflat-I Gram Panchayat under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ on May 26. The initiative was spearheaded by the Directorate of Social Welfare in close coordination with the Police Department (Anti-Narcotics Division), and the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA). The session aimed to educate the community about the harmful impacts of alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse on personal health, family life, and the overall social fabric.
The programme shed light on the various support services and assistance available for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. The importance of early intervention, sustained awareness, and collective community action was a key message throughout the session. Villagers were encouraged to play an active role in maintaining a drug-free environment, beginning at the grassroots level.
The programme concluded with a resounding call to action: creating a healthier, safer, and drug-free society is only possible through continued collaboration and responsibility shared across all segments of the community, a press release from Directorate of Social Welfare said.
