
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 8: As part of experiential learning and outcome-based education, the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Sri Vijayapuram, organized an educational site visit for B.Tech Civil Engineering students to the ongoing Smart City Project (East Coast Work from Flag Point to Carbyn’s Cove) under the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD).
The visit was arranged by Shri Altamash Mustafa, Training and Placement Coordinator and Associate Dean (IQAC), DBRAIT, with active support from Shri Shivananda, JE (Civil), APWD, and was conducted under the overall supervision of Shri Sripada Tikadar, Executive Engineer, South Andaman Division. Technical guidance at the site was provided by Shri Indresh Kumar Yadav, JE Phase-1 & AE (i/c), Shri Raja Ram Prasad, JE Phase-2 & AE (i/c), and Shri Shamion, AE (i/c), APWD.
During the visit, the students gained valuable practical exposure to modern smart city construction practices, coastal infrastructure development, and sustainable engineering solutions being implemented in the Islands. The officials explained various stages of execution, quality control measures, safety norms, and the overall significance of smart city initiatives for urban development and future resilience.
The initiative received strong encouragement and institutional support from Professor Sanmukh Kaur, Principal, DBRAIT, who emphasized the importance of industry interaction and field-based learning in shaping competent future civil engineers.
