Biological Park Celebrates World Wetlands Day 2026

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 2: The Biological Park, Chidiyatapu celebrated World Wetlands Day 2026 through a series of awareness activities conducted in line with the official theme, highlighting the importance of traditional knowledge in wetland conservation. A beach cleaning drive was organized with the active participation of students of Primary School, Chidiyatapu, their teachers, and staff of the Biological Park, promoting responsible environmental practices and the protection of coastal wetlands.

In addition, students from Rangachang School were taken on an educational visit to nearby mangrove wetland site, where they were sensitized to the ecological, cultural, and environmental significance of wetlands. The students were briefed on the role of wetlands in biodiversity conservation and the value of traditional wisdom in sustaining these ecosystems, and were encouraged to protect wetlands as a shared natural and cultural heritage for future generations.

The programme aimed to foster environmental awareness among young students and reinforce the need for collective action to conserve wetlands for a sustainable future.
