Birth Anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar Celebrated at VSI Airport

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 28: The birth anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was celebrated at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Sri Vijaya Puram today. On the occasion, the statue of the Veer Savarkar was adorned with garland and sweets were distributed involving passengers and all the stakeholders at Airport i.e. Employees of Airports Authority of India, CISF, Airlines and various agencies working at Airport.

Airport Director Shri Devender Yadav said, Port Blair Airport was re-named as Veer Savarkar Airport in 2002 by former Prime Minster Atal Bihari Vajpayee and it relates us to valiant freedom fighter, an enthusiastic social reformer, a prolific writer, an eloquent orator Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and inspire us to live for the nation. Veer Savarkar was pioneer of freedom struggle who turned Andaman’s dungeon into a school of revolution. He was the flame of valour, thought leader, evolutionary poet and patriot.
