
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 5: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, laid the foundation stones for renovation and improvement with widening of rural roads at 11 locations in the Gram Panchayats of Calicut, Sippighat, Guptapara, Wandoor, Humfrygunj, Tushnabad (Habdipur), Mithakhari, Namunaghar etc under South Andaman district.
The foundation stone laying ceremonies were attended by Shri Prakash, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, along with Zilla Parishad Members, Panchayati Members and Pradhans of the respective areas. Officials from APWD and members of the general public were also present on the occasion.
While laying the foundation stones at the respective locations, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble MP, expressed his happiness and gratitude to the Government of India for sanctioning funds for the A&N Islands under the Central Road Fund (CRF) Phase-I proposal, made possible through the efforts of the A&N Administration and his continuous pursuit with the Ministry. He stated that many rural roads in the region are presently in deplorable condition, and the sanctioned works will help improve and renovate these roads with proper widening. This initiative will ensure safer and more convenient travel for daily commuters and enhance connectivity in rural areas.
Local residents who attended the programmes at various locations, including school children and elderly villagers, expressed their happiness and appreciation for the initiative taken by the Hon’ble MP. They noted that the improvement and widening of rural roads will greatly benefit the community by providing better connectivity and safer passage for all.
