
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 6: The C.D. Block Prothrapur has successfully completed an 8-days Farm Training Programme for Self Help Group (SHG) members of GP Sippighat, GP Beodnabad, GP Calicut, GP Govind Nagar and GP Shyam Nagar under the DAY-NRLM scheme organized from 23rd Feb., 2026 onwards. The training programme focused on Nutritigarden, Organic Farming, Vermi-Composting and Floriculture, aimed at strengthening sustainable livelihood opportunities and promoting eco-friendly agricultural practices among rural women.
The programme was conducted with the technical support and expertise of the Agriculture Department, ensuring that SHG members received practical and informative sessions on modern and sustainable farming techniques.
The training sessions witnessed active participation and enthusiastic involvement of SHG members. The participants showed keen interest in learning innovative farming practices that can enhance household nutrition and generate additional income. Many SHG members have shown interest in floriculture and fresh flower bouquet making. They registered their names with Agriculture Dept. for supply of flower plant seeds & saplings to initiate the activity.
The BDO, Prothrapur, Smti. Gurjeet Kaur encouraged the SHG members to start Vermi-Composting as their livelihood activity. She also requested the SHG members to start group activity in floriculture & bouquet making for supply of bouquets in market.
