Chess Training Classes Successfully Conducted for Students of GSSS Long Island

Long Island, July 26: The Department of Education A & N Administration successfully organized chess training classes for the students of GSSS, Long Island today. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around fifty students, marking the first time such an initiative was conducted on the island.

The training session was formally inaugurated by Shri Mukund Baroi, Vice Principal, GSSS Long Island, who made the ceremonial first move on the chessboard to kickstart the program.

The students, many of whom were introduced to chess for the first time, expressed great joy and excitement throughout the sessions. The training culminated in a simultaneous chess exhibition held outdoors in a vibrant atmosphere near the scenic shoreline, providing a unique and memorable experience for the young learners.

To assess how much the students had learned from the training, trainers engaged them in friendly matches. The best-performing players were felicitated for their performance, while all participants were presented with gifts as a token of encouragement and appreciation.

The successful conduct of this training marks the expansion of the Chess in School Programme to remote island schools, ensuring that students in even the most far-flung areas benefit from the educational value of chess.
