CPI (M) Organises Remembrance Meeting in Memory of Com. Sitaram Yechury

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 12: To mark the 1st Death Anniversary of Com. Sitaram Yechury, veteran Communist leader and former General Secretary of CPI (M), a remembrance meeting was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair today (12th September, 2025).  Addressing the programme, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee briefly explained the important role played by Com. Sitaram Yechury in building the party and his uncompromising fight against communal forces in the country.  He said that Com Sitaram dedicated his entire life for the people of the country in general and working class in particular. 

Addressing the programme, senior leader P. Banerjee briefly dealt with the emergence of socialist countries in the world and its impact on the young leaders like Com Sitaram during 1970s and 1980s. Speaking on the occasion, B. Chandrachoodan, State Secretariat Member emphasized the need to emulate the life of Com Sitaram Yechury by party leaders and workers particularly at the present juncture when communal forces are trying to divide the country. 

D. Laxman Rao, State Secretariat Member of the party, who presided over the programme, described Com Sitaram as a true Communist who fought against communalism and authoritarianism. SP Kalairajan, SOC Member proposed vote of thanks. 

A large number of party workers and sympathizers attended the programme.
