
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 13: In a continued effort to strengthen civic infrastructure and address urban developmental needs, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, conducted an extensive inspection of Ward No. 1 and Ward No. 2 at Haddo today. The visit aimed to review public facilities, identify infrastructural gaps and interact with local representatives to understand community priorities. The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Ward Councillors during the visit.
At the Tirupati Temple area, the proposal for utilizing the vacant land in front of the temple for community and temple-related activities and suggested converting nearby dilapidated Government quarters into a gymnasium for local youth was reviewed by the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman who assured that the proposal would be examined for feasibility.
Near CCS (opposite Teja Hotel), a proposal for constructing a community hall was discussed, while at Ranchi Bijan, the development of a dedicated parking area to ease roadside congestion was suggested. The team also visited the open area near Van Sadhan, where the creation of a playground or recreational space was proposed. The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the importance of such community initiatives and assured due consideration.
The inspection concluded with a visit to the existing community hall in Ward No. 1, where the Deputy Commissioner directed necessary repairs and maintenance to keep the facility functional and accessible. He appreciated the active participation of the Councillor and reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to responsive governance and sustainable urban development.
