DC South Andaman Undertakes Field Visit to Kanyapuram to Review and Assess Ongoing and Recently Completed Development Initiatives

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 10: Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, undertook a field visit to Kanyapuram Gram Panchayat to review and assess the ongoing and recently completed rural development initiatives aimed at improving local infrastructure and community welfare.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman inspected and inaugurated the newly constructed Cement Concrete (CC) road and the renovation works of the existing blacktop road with proper drainage facilities both executed under the Rural Development Department. These works are part of the Administration’s continued efforts to strengthen rural connectivity, enhance road safety and ensure effective stormwater management for the residents of the area.

Further, as part of the developmental planning, an extent of 0.0110 hectares of land was set apart for the construction of an Anganwadi Centre at Kanyapuram. The proposed centre will cater to the nutritional, educational and health needs of children and mothers in the locality, contributing towards holistic development under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman appreciated the efforts of the Gram Panchayat and field functionaries for their proactive role in the implementation of Government schemes and emphasized the need for sustained monitoring to ensure quality and timely completion of works. He also interacted with local representatives and residents to gather feedback on the ongoing projects and assured continued administrative support for addressing public needs at the grassroots level.
