Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 2: The Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration organized a programme at all Blocks and various Gram Panchayats today to mark the release of the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme. The event featured a live telecast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s address, streamed from the national programme held at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This enabled the attendees to witness the national event in real time.
Altogether, 1,230 farmers, PRI members, and officials from KVKs and departmental officials attended the live sessions through the webcast across the Islands.
As part of the PM-KISAN scheme, a total of 13,059 farmers in the A&N Islands received the 20th installment of ₹2,000 each for the period April–July 2025, resulting in a total disbursement of ₹2.84 crore. The funds were directly transferred into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
The PM-KISAN is a Central Sector Scheme fully funded by the Government of India. Launched on 1st December, 2018, it aims to supplement the financial needs of small and marginal farmers for the procurement of agricultural inputs, ensuring proper crop health and optimum yields, thereby improving their overall income.
