Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 5: The Department of Fisheries, in association with the IP & T Department, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, and with the financial support of National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad, proposes to organize the second edition of ‘Island Seafood Festival’ on 15th and 16th January, 2026 at Sri Vijaya Puram, as part of promotion of Seafood Consumption culture and Tuna Cluster Development in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The festival aims to showcase the rich seafood diversity and fisheries-based livelihoods of the islands. It will feature cultural programmes, seafood cooking demonstrations, public competitions, and interactive sessions. The event is intended to popularize the island seafood culture among the local population as well as tourists, while promoting domestic fish marketing and increased fish consumption. The festival will also focus on creating awareness about flagship fisheries schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and PM-MKSSY through farmer–scientist interaction meets and outreach activities.
During the festival, stalls will be allotted to interested Fisheries associations/ /Entrepreneurs/ Fisheries cooperatives/Aquarium shops/Sports Fishing vessel owners/ Hotels & Restaurants / Women SHGs/NGOs etc to showcase various fisheries related Activities /Products/Services including Live, Fresh, Chilled, Frozen Fish products and other Value Added Products, Seafood Cuisines, Aquariums, Fish Feed, Essential Fisheries Requisites, Sport Fishing Services etc. The venue and other details regarding allotment of stall to the interested beneficiaries will be intimated after selection.
