
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 8: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, A&N Administration organized ‘Open Road Race – 10 Km for Men and 5 Km for Women’ today from Netaji Stadium Sports Complex, under the Nasa Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The run started from Netaji Stadium to Megapode Chowk for Men and from Netaji Stadium to Marine Research Laboratory for Women culminating at finishing point i.e. Netaji Stadium. On this occasion, Lt. Sachin Parashar, Utkrosh flagged off the Road race and the Director of Education and Sports, Shri. Vikram Singh, was the chief guest. The main objective of this tournament is to keep the youth away from drugs and encourage them to participate in Sports. Director (Sports) congratulated all participants who have won medals in this event especially, the young children who participated and completed 5 km and 10 Km Run. Further, he urged the parents to send their wards to enroll in the Khelo India Centre, Netaji Stadium, which is providing scientific training and sports equipment.
Altogether 200 participants from School, College and various organizations as well as general public participated in the Road race.

The winners were honored with Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals and consolation prize by the chief guest and other guest of honours.
The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs in order to carry forward the spirit of sports will be organizing a ‘Marathon’ at the end of November or December, 2025 from 2 places i.e. North Bay and Netaji Stadium. In this event celebrities from mainland will also participate.
