
Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 5: Dr. S. Radhakrishnan District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Garacharma, under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha, successfully organised a 03-day Capacity Building Training (CBT) Programme on Inclusive Education for general teachers from all 9 educational zones of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The programme is being held from 5th to 7th January, 2026 at Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram, with the participation of 80 general teachers.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Smti. Sangeeta Chand, Principal, SIE/DIET Garacharma, as the chief guest. In her address, she emphasized the importance of inclusive education in ensuring equitable learning opportunities for all children and encouraged teachers to adopt learner-centric and inclusive practices in their classrooms.
The programme is enriched by the presence of eminent resource persons from the mainland, namely Dr. Rama S. Former Dean, Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysore, and Dr. Sree Priya R., I/c Regional Director, National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Chennai. The resource persons are equipping teachers with practical strategies, pedagogical skills, and classroom interventions to address diverse learning needs and to promote inclusive teaching-learning environments.
