
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 12: A five-day Hands-on Science Laboratory Experiments–Based Training Programme for Laboratory Assistants and Laboratory Attendants was organised by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, from 8th to 12th December, 2025 at three venues viz. Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Aberdeen; Govt. Boys’ Senior Secondary School, Middle Point; and Govt. RBV Senior Secondary School. A total of 97 Laboratory Assistants and Laboratory Attendants from various schools across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands participated in the programme.
The primary objective of the programme was to strengthen the participants’ competency and efficiency in conducting laboratory experiments for Classes IX to XII. The training focused on the identification of laboratory articles, setting up laboratory apparatus, hands-on experiments, repair of laboratory materials and maintenance stock registers, and the safe handling of laboratory equipment. PGTs (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) from the venue schools, along with Resource Persons from ITI, Dollygunj, facilitated the sessions and provided technical guidance.
On Dec. 9, Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Edn.) interacted with the participants, motivating them and emphasising the importance of enhancing laboratory-related skills and utilising the learning opportunities provided through this training. The programme concluded with an assessment test and the collection of participant feedback. Shri Ram Pravesh, DDE (Science), distributed certificates to all participants, marking the successful completion of the training programme.
