District Administration Carries Out Anti Encroachment Drive Across South Andaman; 5100 Sq. Mtr of Government Land Restored

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 18: The District Administration, South Andaman, as part of its continued efforts to safeguard Government land and prevent unauthorised occupation, carried out a series of coordinated anti-encroachment drives across Ferrargunj and Little Andaman Tehsil. These operations led to the successful removal of fresh encroachments and the restoration of 5100 sq. mtr of revenue land.

In Ferrargunj Tehsil, eviction drives were carried out at multiple locations. At Mathura and Tushnabad villages, encroachments in the form of fencing were cleared, reclaiming 1500 sq. mtr of Government land. At Bambooflat village, 500 sq. mtr of encroached land was restored to its original condition. Additionally, at Craikabad village, an unauthorised tent structure used for dwelling was removed, retrieving 100 sq. mtr of revenue land. In total, 2100 sq. mtr of Government land was restored in Ferrargunj Tehsil.

In Little Andaman, the Revenue Team also took swift action in Ongi Tirkey, Hutbay village, clearing fencing, tin sheds, banana trees, and garden patches erected by occupants of the nearby Tsunami Shelter. This resulted in the reclamation of 1500 sq. mtr of Government land. At Netaji Nagar, encroachments involving coconut and areca nut plantations were removed, restoring an additional 1500 sq. mtr of revenue land. Altogether, 3000 sq. mtr of Government land was retrieved in Little Andaman.

The District Administration reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting public property and ensuring that Government land is preserved for public welfare and future development initiatives. It emphasised that strict action will continue to be taken against all forms of illegal occupation.
