Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 27: In its ongoing mission to safeguard government land and ensure the free flow of traffic, the District Administration, South Andaman carried out a significant encroachment eviction operation along the CIARI Road in Garacharma.
During the inspection, it was observed that portions of Government land situated at Garacharma village and recorded in favour of the Revenue Department, had been encroached upon by several individuals and shop owners. Temporary extensions, tin-roof sheds and makeshift vending stalls had been illegally erected along the roadside, obstructing both pedestrian movement and road widening efforts.
A detailed demarcation of the area was carried out by the Revenue Surveyor to ascertain the actual boundaries of government land. Based on the markings, the encroached portions were clearly identified on the ground. Subsequently, a joint team comprising Revenue Officials, Municipal Engineers and Police Personnel launched the eviction drive to remove all unauthorized occupations.
During the operation, seven temporary structures and one newly constructed permanent illegal structure were demolished on the spot. The team ensured that the entire stretch was cleared, restoring the land to its rightful government status.
The District Administration, South Andaman has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against encroachments on government land and public property. It has further appealed to the general public to refrain from any form of unauthorized construction or occupation and to extend their cooperation in maintaining the beauty and orderliness of Sri Vijaya Puram and its adjoining areas.
The District Administration, South Andaman reiterates that similar operations will continue across different parts of the district to reclaim government land, ensure planned urban development and maintain the sanctity of public spaces for community use.
