District Administration South Andaman Cracks Down on Illegal Excavator Operation and Encroachment on Government Land

Sippighat, Aug 19: As part of its ongoing commitment to uphold environmental laws and safeguard government land, the District Administration, South Andaman, has taken firm action against the illegal operation of an excavator and unauthorized encroachments in Sippighat Village.

Acting on a complaint regarding the illegal use of an excavator without valid development permission, a team of Revenue Officials conducted a surprise inspection at Sippighat. The excavator found at the site was immediately seized. In addition, around 100 cubic meters of illegally extracted earth were also seized, and penalties have been imposed under the applicable provisions of law.

While continuing its efforts to protect public land, the Revenue Officials also carried out an anti-encroachment drive in the same area. Recently erected encroachments in the form of ghumtis were removed, and a total of six unauthorized structures constructed along the main road were cleared.

The District Administration reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards environmental violations, illegal extraction of resources, and encroachments on government land. Such unlawful activities not only disturb the ecological balance but also affect public welfare. Citizens are therefore urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or illegal activities, particularly those related to unauthorized exploitation of natural resources or government land.

For reporting such activities or seeking further information, citizens may contact the District Control Room via phone at 03192-240127 / 238881 / 1070 or through WhatsApp at 9531888844.
