District Core Committee for Sardar@150-Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra Discuss Plan of Action for Smooth Conduct

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 29: A meeting of the District Core Committee constituted for the organisation of the District-Level Sardar@150 – Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra was held today, in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office (South Andaman) under the chairmanship of Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman).

The meeting discussed in detail the Plan of Action for the smooth conduct of the Sardar@150 – Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra, which will be jointly organized by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration and MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram as part of the Unity March Campaign commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

After extensive deliberations, it was decided that two major Padyatra events will be organised in South Andaman District. The first event will be held at Sri Vijaya Puram on 10th November, 2025, following the route from Cellular Jail – Swimming Pool – Narayan Chowk – Clock Tower – Bengali Club – Lighthouse Junction – Gandhi Statue – Clock Tower – Narayan Chowk, culminating at Netaji Stadium. The second event will be held at Wimberlygunj (Ferrargunj Block) on 17th November, 2025, covering the route from Bambooflat School – Stewartgunj – Mini Stadium, Wimberlygunj.

The programme will witness the participation of around 1000 participants, including students and volunteers from NSS, NCC, higher educational institutions, schools under the Education Department, MY Bharat volunteers, and members of civil society organisations. Representatives from prominent NGOs such as Chinmaya Mission, Nai Manzil, Maharashtra Mandal, and Andaman Mahila Mandal, along with other community organisations, will also actively participate in the Unity March, reflecting the true spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”

The meeting was attended by Heads of Departments from all line Departments, including Education, Sports & Youth Affairs, Health Services, APWD, Police, SVPMC, IP&T, Art & Culture, DIC, Zilla Parishad, MY Bharat, NSS, NCC, and representatives from various NGOs and civil societies.

During the discussions, the roles and responsibilities of each department were finalised under three segments — Pre-Event, During Event, and Post-Event — in accordance with the Revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. Departments assured full cooperation in carrying out pre-event awareness campaigns, route and traffic management, health and first aid arrangements, cleanliness drives, cultural programmes, documentation, and publicity.

The Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) appreciated the proactive participation and commitment of all Departments and agencies and directed that all necessary arrangements be made in a well-coordinated manner. He urged all stakeholders to work collectively to ensure the grand success of the District-Level Sardar@150 – Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra, which symbolises the ideals of unity, discipline, and patriotism envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
