
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 27: The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC) / DISHA meeting for South Andaman District was convened in the Conference Hall of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray.
Shri Arjun Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman was present during the meeting along with the senior officials of line Departments, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The meeting sought to improve the monitoring of developmental initiatives within the constitutional framework governing the roles of the Central Government, the UT Administration and local bodies. The Hon’ble Member of Parliament stressed the importance of collaborative governance and timely execution of Government schemes to address the developmental priorities of South Andaman.
During the session, Departments apprised the Committee of the objectives and timelines of all major schemes, including launch dates, targets and progress made so far. A detailed presentation on the district-wise financial and physical achievements over the past five years was also made. Proposed and upcoming projects under various flagship programmes were reviewed, with particular focus on their present status, challenges and the steps needed to accelerate implementation.
The Hon’ble Member of Parliament reviewed the status of all schemes comprehensively and offered valuable inputs and suggestions aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening monitoring mechanisms and ensuring effective delivery of benefits to the public. Taking into account the suggestions provided, it was decided that a follow-up review of the DISHA meeting shall be convened at a later date to assess progress and ensure that corrective measures have been effectively implemented.
