
Sri Vijaya Puram, March 29: The District Health Society (SA) under the aegis of UT Health Mission, A&N Islands- NHM conducted an Outreach Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Camp along with an Ayushman Arogya Shivir under the 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Campaign on 28.03.2026, in coordination with the Directorate of Health Services and Swastiya Medical Centre under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Ms. Purva Garg, IAS.
Further, Shri Kamaleshwar Rao S, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman, visited AAM/PHC Shaheed Dweep today along with PRI members, District Programme Manager, DHS (SA) & other officials, reviewed the infrastructure and services, and directed MO (I/C) to utilised the available infrastructure on optimised way and also directed JE, APWD to initiate the sanctioned upgradation work at the earliest.
During the RCH outreach camp, the specialist doctors (Gynecologist & Pediatrician) from Swastiya Medical Centre with support of MO (I/C), MO, and paramedical staff of AAM/PHC Swaraj Dweep, screened 23 ANC beneficiaries (including USG), 10 general gynecology cases and 24 children. Additionally, individuals were screened through chest X-ray under TB Mukt Bharat Campaign.
Further, the DPM has convened an Orientation-cum-Meeting with the Jan Arogya Samitis (JAS) of both PHCs at Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep on respective days to strengthen community participation and a Kayakalp assessment of both PHCs was also carried out along with the designated Medical Officer (AYUSH) and Public Health Nurse I/c to identify facility gaps and to initiate necessary interventions to improve the infrastructure & service quality.
