EIACP Centre on Island Biodiversity, ZSI to Organise One Day Workshop

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 20: The EIACP Centre on Island Biodiversity and Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre is organising one day workshop as a part of celebration of International Day of Forests 2026 on the theme “Forests and Economies”. The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness about the importance of forest conservation, biodiversity, and the benefits provide by forest ecosystem, utilizing visual art to inspire action and highlight issues like deforestation. About 100 students, teachers, scientist including GSDP trainees are expected to attend workshop.  Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice Chancellor, Pondicherry University, Puducherry will be the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function, besides Dr. S. Dinesh Kannan, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Department of Environment & Forests, A & N Islands; Dr. Kailash Chandra, Former Director, Zoological Survey of India, MoEF&CC, Government of India; Dr. V.P. Uniyal, Former Scientist-G and Senior Professor, Wildlife Institute of India will be the Special Guests. The Chief guest & Special guests will distribute the certificates & medals to the winners of the drawing competition and participants of the one-day workshop.
