Felicitation of Best Performing Teachers and Spectacular Cultural Programmes Mark the Diglipur Zonal Level Teachers’ Day Programme

Diglipur, Sept 5: The birth anniversary of former President of India, great philosopher, and teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was celebrated with enthusiasm across Diglipur today as Teachers’ Day. Schools across the vast rural region paid homage to the great scholar by organizing floral tributes, speeches on his teachings, cultural programmes, wall magazine displays, and sports activities.

The zonal-level Teachers’ Day programme was held in the evening at the multipurpose hall of Vivekananda Stadium. Dr. H.S.K. Murty, Divisional Forest Officer, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri Manu Thomas (AE) attended as Guest of Honour, while Shri P.R. Singaram, Pradhan of Subhash Gram, and Shri John (AE) were the Special Guests.

Addressing a gathering of teachers from more than 60 government and private schools, Dr. Murty emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in passing on knowledge from one generation to another. He lauded their dedicated service in nurturing children, particularly in far-flung areas of the region.

On the occasion, teachers who secured 100% results in the last CBSE Board Examinations were felicitated. Two veteran educators Shri Palan Krishna Bairagi (Ex-PST) and Smti Helan (Ex-PGT) were specially honoured for their lifelong contributions to uplifting educational standards in remote areas.

Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Deputy Education Officer Smti Sulochana remarked, “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.” She highlighted the need for compassion in teaching and noted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has significantly contributed to improving standards and fostering all-around development of students.

In her address, Dr. Pushpavalli, Principal of GSSS Diglipur, said the role of teachers has evolved, and they must now proactively reach out to students. She described teaching as a noble profession that shapes the future of society.

The cultural segment featured soulful songs and graceful classical dances by teachers from GSSS Diglipur, GSS Ramnagar, GSSS Kalighat, and GSS Shibpur. Prizes were also distributed to winners of various sports and cultural competitions organized in connection with Teachers’ Day.

Proposing the vote of thanks, Assistant Education Officer Shri Balbir Singh credited the success of the mega event to the tireless efforts of teachers, the DEO establishment, and particularly acknowledged the contribution of Shri Amrik Singh, Stadium In-charge.
