Sri Vijaya Puram, March 5: The first phase of census namely, Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO), will start from April, 2026 in UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. In the Gazette notification issued on 31st January, 2026, the period from 1-15 April, 2026 has been prescribed for self-enumeration. Thereafter, Houselisting Operations shall be conducted from 16th April, 2026 to 15th May, 2026.
During this period, the enumerators appointed for HLO of census 2027 shall visit each house in the UT to collect information on thirty-three questions. For ensuring quality data, it is essential that the enumerators are properly trained for carrying out this gigantic exercise. The Census Office is following training cascade, where National trainers train Master trainers of UT. The Master trainers would train Field trainers, and the Field trainers would ultimately impart training to the enumerators and supervisors.
In the series of training, Master trainer’s training has already completed in the UT. Now, the Field trainer’s training has begun in A&N Islands. 5th March 2026, was the first day of three days training of Field trainers at South Andaman. Similar training shall be imparted to Field trainers of North and Middle Andaman District and Nicobars District in the next week.
