Four-Day Chess Training Concludes for Rangat Zone

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 2: The four-day Chess Training Programme for primary students, teachers, and Physical Education Teachers (PET/PTIs) of Rangat Zone concluded today at PM SHRI Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sabari Junction, with an engaging simultaneous chess exhibition match (Simul Event). The training, organized under the ‘Chess in School’ initiative by the Directorate of Education, aimed to introduce the fundamentals of chess to beginners while helping budding players refine their skills through structured instruction and practice games.

Dr. Sushim Kumar Biswas, DEO, Rangat, inaugurated the chess simul event with the ceremonial first move. He emphasized the role of chess in developing life skills such as focus, decision-making, and problem-solving ability, and encouraged all present to continue nurturing this valuable game within their communities.

Shri V. Ranjith Kumar, Assistant Director (PE/Sports), DEO Rangat, along with Shri Mohd. Rafique, Teacher-in-Charge of the Sabari school, graced the closing ceremony and felicitated the best performers of the Simul Event. One best-performing boy and girl were awarded trophies for their impressive performance. The programme reflected the Education Department’s strong commitment to expand chess education across remote areas, ensuring its academic benefits reach all learners.
