Baratang, April 10: On 10.04.2026, a Mock Drill on Earthquake and Fire Safety was conducted at GSSS, Oralkatcha by Firefighters of Fire Station Baratang under the School Safety Programme. A total of 254 participants, including students and staff, took part in the exercise.
During the drill, participants were briefed on emergency response protocols such as R.A.C.E and P.A.S.S techniques. A simulated earthquake alert was followed by a fire evacuation where students practiced “Duck-Cover-Hold” and safely evacuated to the assembly point. Firefighters also demonstrated the use of portable fire extinguishers and provided hands-on experience to students. The programme concluded with an interactive session on fire safety and disaster preparedness, reaffirming the commitment of A&N Fire & Emergency Service to strengthen disaster preparedness in schools.
