General Body Meeting of A&N PRI Karamchari Sangh Held at Shaheed Bhavan

Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 17: The General Body Meeting of the Andaman & Nicobar PRI Karmachari Sangh was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair recently. Josphina Toppo presided over the meeting. R. Surendran Pillai, General Secretary of the Union presented a brief report of the activities of the Union.  Audited accounts was also presented in the meeting. Addressing the gathering, R. Surendran Pillai   briefly explained the present status of the demand for grant of 1/30th of pay plus DA to the daily rated mazdoors working in the Gram Panchayats in the islands.  He called upon the members to remain united. 

Addressing the general body meeting, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU State Committee criticized the central government and A & N Administration for denying the financial benefit of 1/30th of pay plus DA to the DRMs working under Gram Panchayats. He said that the government is pursuing anti-working class policies in the country despite strong opposition from trade unions.     

Anand Rajan, Secretary, CITU State Committee also addressed the general body meeting. M. Yugander, Secretary, CITU State Committee, K. Lakshman, Joint Secretary, Nagarpalika Shramik Sangh and Venkat Rao, Vice President, ASNVMS were present in the meeting. A large number of workers working in the Gram Panchayats under the Port Blair and Ferrargunj Tehsil attended the general body meeting. 

Earlier, Shri Hasmat Ali, Joint Secretary of the A&N PRI Karmachari Sangh welcomed the gathering.
