GST Enforcement Team Imposes Penalty of Rs. 3.33 Lakhs on Business Establishments for Non-Compliance of Updated GST Rates

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 14: Following the recent rate revisions under GST 2.0, the GST Department of the A&N Islands has observed that a number of business establishments across the Union Territory are yet to fully comply with the updated GST rates, regulations and exemptions, despite the considerable time provided for transition.

To ensure proper enforcement, inspection teams have conducted random checks on 68 business units in Sri Vijaya Puram since 22nd September, 2025. During these inspections, several instances of non-compliance were detected, leading to the imposition of on-the-spot penalties. A total penalty of Rs. 3.33 lakh has been recovered from businesses found violating GST norms.

The enforcement drive will continue in the coming days to guarantee the effective implementation of the revised GST provisions and to ensure that consumers receive the rightful benefits of the new regime.
