Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 28: Under the guidance of Shri Arjun Sharma, Commissioner, UTGST, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, a GST team led by Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Assistant Commissioner, UTGST, South Andaman, conducted a GST Awareness Program at Swaraj Dweep from 25th to 26th October, 2025.
During the program, the GST team met with various business units, including those in Water Sports Activities, Tour Operators, Hotel and Restaurant Services. The team provided detailed information on the GST registration process, the procedure for filing GST returns, and the benefits of GST registration. Attendees were made aware that GST registration is mandatory for all eligible businesses under the relevant Acts and Rules. Non-compliance with GST regulations can lead to penalties and legal action as per GST laws. Businesses are urged to comply at the earliest to avoid enforcement measures.
The public is advised that the UTGST Department will continue to organize more GST awareness camps and enforcement drives across the region in the coming months. These efforts are aimed at ensuring full compliance and supporting businesses in understanding the obligations and benefits of GST.
