
Car Nicobar, March 25: A Health Screening and Awareness Programme under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) was successfully conducted on March 23 at the Community Hall, Mus Village, Car Nicobar. The programme was organized by the Block Development Office, CD Block Car Nicobar, in collaboration with BJR Hospital, with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare and enhancing awareness on health and hygiene practices among the local community.
The event witnessed active participation from officials and field functionaries of both departments, including Medical Officers, Cluster Coordinators, Community Resource Persons (CRPs), Functional Nutrition Workers (FN), Health Workers (HW), Gender CRPs, and residents of Mus Village. The presence of multidisciplinary teams ensured effective outreach and delivery of healthcare services.
The programme forms part of an ongoing health campaign under FNHW initiated on 11th March, 2026, which is scheduled to continue until 27th March, 2026 across various villages under Car Nicobar Block. The campaign aims to strengthen early identification and intervention for health issues among adults & children, particularly those in the Anganwadi age group.
During the programme, comprehensive health screening activities were conducted for children, including height and weight measurements, general health check-ups, and nutritional assessments. Special emphasis was laid on demonstrating proper hand washing techniques to promote hygiene and prevent communicable diseases. A total of 22 children attended the screening session, and those identified with health concerns were referred to BJR Hospital for further medical consultation and follow-up care.
In addition to screening activities, awareness sessions were conducted for villagers on key aspects of health, nutrition, sanitation, and personal hygiene. The initiative also highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, timely treatment, and community participation in ensuring improved health outcomes.
The programme concluded with a positive response from the community, reflecting increased awareness and willingness to adopt healthy practices.
