ICAR-CIARI and its KVKs Observe Vigilance Awareness Week Across Islands

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 29: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) and its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) at North & Middle Andaman, South Andaman and Nicobar observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 on 28th October under the theme “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility.” The programmes aimed to create awareness among villagers about their rights, duties, and the importance of collective responsibility in eradicating corruption.

At KVK North & Middle Andaman, Dr. V. Damodaran, Sr. Scientist & Head, administered the integrity pledge and emphasized transparency and accountability, with 35 participants from nearby villages attending.

In South Andaman, the event at Gupta Pada Panchayat, graced by Shri Durlab Das, Pradhan, and Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Pr. Scientist & Head, highlighted the role of citizens as whistle blowers against corruption, benefiting 50 farmers and farmwomen.

In Nicobar, the programme was observed at the Gram Panchayat level under the chairmanship of Village Head Perka.

The entire programme was coordinated by Dr. Sharath S. Yeligar under the guidance of Dr. T. Sujatha, Vigilance Officer and Dr. Jai Sunder, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
