
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 14: A one-day hands on training programme on Entrepreneurship opportunities to tribal youths through value added poultry products was organized at Livestock farm complex, ICAR-CIARI under Scheduled Tribe Component of ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram. A total of 21 Nicobari tribal college students of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Sri Vijaya Puram participated in this programme.
During the programme, of Dr Jai Sunder, Director motivated the participants to learn all the skills to prepare value added products to establish their own business. He encouraged them that ICAR-CIARI is ready to support them in all possible ways to initiate product preparation in a team mode.
Dr. T. Sujatha, Pr. Scientist and coordinator of the programme told them to have marketing linkage with restaurants and to form a group to set up the micro entrepreneurship on product preparation that will be a successful employment avenue for the young generation.
Participants were given practical training. They prepared poultry value added products such as quail egg pickle, sausage made out of chicken meat and duck meat, nuggets. Subsequently sensory evaluation of products prepared by the tribal girls and boys and all the products were scored in range of 8-9 points and all dishes were very much liked. The participants expressed that they are ready to work on it and requested for more skill development programmes.
