
Kadamtala, Oct. 13: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nimbudera, successfully organized a skill training programme on “Nursery Management and Propagation of Horticultural Crops” at Kadamtala Gram Panchayat from 9 to 11 October 2025. The programme was inaugurated as Chief Guest Smt. Neela Parh, the Pradhan of Kadamtala Panchayat.
In her inaugural address, she underscored the vital role of such training initiatives in strengthening grassroots agricultural development. She urged participating farmers to actively engage with the sessions and harness the knowledge shared to enhance their farming practices and boost productivity.
During the technical sessions, Dr. V. Damodaran, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Nimbudera, highlighted the importance of quality planting material and introduced various propagation methods for horticultural, spice, and vegetable crops. He also discussed key aspects of nursery layout planning, plant hardening, and integrated pest management.
Mr. Rakesh Dawar SMS, Agronomy shared insights on nursery site selection, nutrient management through organic manures, and eco-friendly pest and disease management using bio-inputs.
A live, hands-on training session was conducted in farmers’ field of Shri Kunjulal Halder using different propagation techniques. Participants engaged actively, practicing air-layering, grafting, and serpentine propagation under expert supervision.
The farmers of Kadamtala Panchayat expressed their appreciation for the programme and showed keen interest for adopting and promoting improved nursery management and propagation techniques within their communities. A total of 25 farmers and farm women participated and benefited from the training.
The programme was organized under the supervision and coordination of Dr. V. Damodaran, with overall guidance from Dr. Jai Sunder, Director (Acting), ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram.
