
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 12: IGNOU Regional Centre- Port Blair in collaboration with St. Albert College (Autonomus), Kerala organised a second workshop ‘Vocal for Local’ for women and men of Chouldari village, Ferrargunj Block, Sri Vijaya Puram, A & N Islands under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan (UBA) at Calvary Children’s Home, Badmash Pahad, Chouldari on Thursday, 11th September 2025. Under, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan campaign IGNOU Regional Centre has adopted three villages namely- Badmash Pahad, Chouldari and Port Mouat, and IGNOU Regional Centre- Port Blair is committed to contribute in the holistic development of these villages. In continuation with the last program held in the August, IGNOU RC- Port Blair has organised the second workshop for the people of these three villages. Sixty-five villagers including, unemployed women, youth and other people have participated in the program and learnt basic skills in the training session. The training included the preparation sanitary items which are essential in the day today life of human beings and also to give a new direction to earn the lively hood of villagers. Along with this, officials and participants also undertook cleanliness drive in the premise along with the participants of workshop.
Regional Director of IGNOU RC-Port Blair Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Jacob and Assistant Regional Director, Dr. Uday Kumar-cum-coordinator UBA program also addressed the gathering and shared IGNOU`s effort in realising the goal of developed villages in Andaman & Nicobar Islands under the UBA scheme. The training session was led by Ms. Sangita Mondal, ASO and Ms. Asma Bibi, SPA and supported by Appa Rao. More than Sixty-Five villagers have participated in the program and learnt basic skills in the training session.
